Thought we had enough smart speakers? Think again.
Anker, the electronics company known for their accessories like chargers and battery packs, has recently announced the Genie.
In this saturated smart speaker market, what’s the best way for Anker to differentiate their new product? Through making a great product, cheaper.
This new device is a smart speaker slightly larger than the Echo Dot, but comes at a much cheaper price.
For just $35, this smart speaker will have a built in integration with Alexa, Amazon’s AI. The Alexa integration allows the speaker to give the news, weather, and sports updates among a wide variety of skills. With new skills announced frequently, this Alexa speaker will integrate with music streaming, food delivery, and other services.
The design of the Genie isn’t dissimilar from the Echo Dot. The puck-shaped speaker has volume controls and an LED on the top of the device.
With Eufy, Anker’s brand dedicated to home automation, their new smart speaker will be able to control smart home products like a Roomba-like vacuum cleaner, lamps, and humidifiers.
Eufy hopes to soon roll out products like smart switches and connected bulbs.

Owners of the Genie will need to install the EufyHome app to add new skills to the device and interact with their Alexa speaker.
