Two years after launching the indoor cam, Nest just announced their new surveillance camera: the Nest Cam IQ. The new immaculate white camera is, according to Nest, “state of the art“.
Cam IQ is the first surveillance camera equipped with a 4K sensor (8 million pixel). It has a wide 130° view to capture as much as possible. It works wired to a USB Type-C cable.
The camera wasn’t designed to be fixed on a wall, but rather placed on any surface. Thanks to its pivot, the camera can rotate by 180°.
The Supersight feature not only allows you to have a perfect image definition but also provides a new trick called the close-up tracking shot.
When the camera spots a person, the feature will automatically zoom in and follow the person across the room (video demo at the end of this post).
Also, the camera should be able to differentiate between animals and people.
Last but not least, Nest Cam IQ can use face recognition technology. This will help the camera know if there is any intruder in your home.
Talk and Listen
Nest Cam IQ has a high-end speaker and three microphones (1 at the bottom, 2 on the side). It is furnished with a noise suppression and echo cancellation software, in order to make communications clearer.
Moreover, if you are a Nest Aware subscriber, the camera can send you intelligence audio alerts. It can notify you when it hears a voice or a sound.
