After 2 hours of the WWDC conference yesterday, Apple revealed HomePod, a connected speaker and smart home assistant. Apple finally launches a competitor to Amazon Echo, Google Home or other home assistants.
With HomePod, Apple focuses on sound. Its name itself recalls Apple’s famous music device, the iPod. HomePod has 7 speakers, 6 microphones and a subwoofer. Apple promises to deliver amazing sound with its echo cancellation feature.
The device is equipped with a spatialization feature, allowing it to sense where in the room it’s playing and if you have over HomePods.
The speaker also integrates Siri features. You can ask Siri about the weather forecast or the news, to play music and much more. The home assistant can also control the devices compatible with HomeKit.
HomePod will be available in December at $349.
