The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 is taking place this week in San Francisco. Apple started the conference today with its traditional Keynote, dedicated to the new releases available for developers.
One interesting news of the WWDC for the IoT is the launch of the HomeKit app : Home.
With Apple HomeKit, you can use your iPhone or your iPad to control the products compatible in your smart home. To do so, you need to download the device’s app from the Apple Store. You can then have multiple apps on your phone, according to the number of devices you want to control.
With the new app, coming this fall, you will only need a single app to control HomeKit-enable devices. Home will let you control your thermostats, lights or shades. You will also be able to create scenes. For example, when you wake up in the morning and say Good Morning to Siri (Apple’s vocal assistant), the shades can open automatically, your coffee machine will turn on, and Siri will give you the weather forecast for the day.
